As people in developed countries have increasing life expectancies, hearing loss has become an increasing concern, as hearing deteriorates with age. Hearing issues become more comment and more severe.

Existing hearing tests can measure how well a patient is able to interpret what is being said, but whether the lost words are due to hearing loss or dementia requires further specialist testing to determine.
